About Park of Idols

Paul Klee is one of the most celebrated artists of all time. A Swiss painter born in 1879 and died 1940, Klee’s unique and slightly humourous works are full of allusions to music, dreams, and poetry. His art was inspired by surrealism, cubism, and expressionism as well as being a student of the oriental school of art.

Currently an exhibition is being held at 537 West 20th Street, in New York where many pieces from Paul Klee’s 1939 are on view. This year before he passed away marked one of his most prolific periods as an artist, with works such as ‘Park Of Idols’ completed during this time. Another key piece from 1937 was ‘Legend Of The Nile’ where gold and vibrant colours mix amongst landscapes depicting ancient Egyptian tales.

Thus it is clear that Paul Klee had a highly personal style which could be admired for its rare beauty no matter the era or school of art and design that influenced him. These motifs continue to be esteemed by modern audiences today who aim to connect personally with each artwork no matter when it was created.
