About The Musician

During the time The Musician was painted by Leonardo Da Vinci, making music was a fashionable activity for young Italians. The painting itself is heavily restored and remains unfinished. However, the face and hair of the musician are well-worked, and notes from a musical partition can be seen in the corner.

Despite its incomplete state, The Musician is an important artwork in Leonardo’s collections. He is more famous for his paintings such as Mona Lisa, Virgin of the Rocks, and The Last Supper. Nonetheless, this painting showcases his skills not only in painting but also in music.
