Sorolla y Bastida, Joaquin - Spanish painter and graphic artist. He was from Valencia, but he had an international reputation and showed his works in major exhibitions throughout Europe and America. He produced portraits, landscapes and genre scenes, as well as book illustrations. He was particularly skilled at creating light effects in a manner distinct from that of the Impressionists.
