Painted in 1820, Self-Portrait With Dr Arrieta is one of Francisco Goya’s last self-portraits. The painting shows Dr. Arrieta, Goya’s caregiver, nursing him back to health. Many scholars have seen religious themes in the painting due to the presence of a crucifix hanging above Goya’s bed.
