Camille Pissarro was a Danish painter born on 10 July 1830 in St. Thomas, Danish West Indies. Pissarro initially trained to take over and run the family mercantile business, but he chose to pursue his artistic interests instead. In the 1850s, Pissarro developed as a painter.
