Paul Klee was a Swiss painter born on 18 December 1879 in Munchenbuchsee, Switzerland. Klee, favoring his interest in drawing and painting over music, decided to pursue an art career. From 1900, he studied in the atelier of Franz Von Stuck in Munich. However, Klee’s involvement with modern art did not begin till 1911 after involving with Der Blaue Reiter.
Klee started his experimentation with abstract art after participating in the 1912 edition of the Blaue Reiter exhibition. He switched to painting watercolor landscapes after his trip to Tunisia with Louis Moilliet and August Macke in 1914. Klee started teaching art in 1920 and continued for the next decade. He suffered an autoimmune disease in 1935 that briefly limited his output before his death on 29 June 1940 in Locarno, Switzerland.
