The artwork titled “Everyone I Have Ever Slept With 1963–1995” was created by Tracey Emin in 1995. As a notable piece within the Conceptual Art movement, this mixed media installation comprises a tent emblazoned with the names of every individual the artist has shared a bed with between the years 1963 and 1995. This artwork, however, no longer exists as it was destroyed.
This installation consisted of an ordinary camping tent that was modified to serve as a deeply personal monument. The tent, featuring prominently placed years “1963-1995” on the exterior, was externally nondescript but internally transformed into a biographical overview. The interior walls were adorned with a range of names, stitched or applied in various materials, spanning the duration of the artist’s life up to that point. This intimate act of naming not only covered romantic or sexual partners but also included family and friends, emphasizing the broader context of human relationships and companionship. The artwork’s impactful simplicity lies in the way it communicates vulnerability and the shared human experience of closeness and connection.
