“Jurassic Parking,” created by Jacek Yerka in 1999, is a surrealist landscape artwork produced in Poland. The artwork embodies the artist’s unique blend of surrealism, merging fantastical elements with a familiar setting.
In the artwork, a peculiar scene unfolds in a pastoral landscape under a twilight sky dominated by a crescent moon. At the forefront, an old-fashioned car embellished with dinosaur-like features stands on a rough, grassy path. The car’s body integrates elements such as scales, a large tail, and clawed feet, evoking a prehistoric creature. Its doors are open, and the hood is lifted, suggesting that the vehicle is in need of repair. Beside the road, there is a tall signpost topped with a red circular sign, partially veiled by foliage. The backdrop features dense rows of coniferous trees extending towards the horizon, creating a mysterious and dreamlike ambiance, which is characteristic of Yerka’s surrealist style.
