“Last Minute” is a surrealism cityscape artwork created by the Polish artist Jacek Yerka in the year 2000. The artwork features a contrast between an urban environment and a lush, green refuge within a narrow alley.
In the artwork, one observes an intriguing fusion of urban decay and verdant nature. The foreground displays elements typical of a cityscape, such as weathered wooden buildings, overhead beams, and various urban debris. Despite the disorder of the surrounding structures, there is an unexpected presence of growing green plants, which guide the viewer’s eye towards the center. In the middle of this juxtaposition lies a vibrant red armchair, surrounded by verdant foliage and bathed in soft light, creating an inviting focal point amidst the desolation. This interplay of contrasting elements underscores the piece’s surreal essence, inviting contemplation on themes of rejuvenation and escape.
