150 Diego Velazquez Paintings

Diego Velazquez was a renowned Spanish painter who is considered one of the greatest artists of the Baroque period. He was born in Seville in 1599 and began his artistic career at a young age. Velazquez became the court painter to King Philip IV of Spain and created many famous portraits of the royal family and other members of Spanish society. His most famous work is "Las Meninas", a complex and intriguing portrait of the Infanta Margarita Teresa surrounded by her attendants. Velazquez was known for his skillful use of light and shadow, as well as his ability to capture the expression and personality of his subjects. He died in 1660, leaving behind a legacy of brilliant and influential paintings that continue to inspire artists and art lovers to this day.
