Raphael (1483-1520) was an Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance. Born in Urbino, Italy, he showed exceptional talent from a young age and studied under the renowned artist Perugino. Raphael is best known for his frescoes in the Vatican, including the famous School of Athens in the Stanza della Segnatura. His work is characterized by harmonious compositions, graceful figures, and a sense of balance and beauty. Raphael's influence on Western art was profound, and he is considered one of the greatest artists of all time.
